battle lines 2011

Do you have a new army for 2011 ?... A old one that needs to be finished or fixed up (glammed up)? Are new to Warhammer 40k ? A Vetern trying to hoan your skills.... If the answer is yes to any of these thing then we have the answer for you!

Front Line 2011
A Warhammer 40,000 Escalation League, Presented by KRAGS

During the coarse of 2011 KRAGS is running a Warhammer 40,000 Escalation League. Our goal is to get new players learning the rules and inspire veteran players to build and paint a new army or posibly finish that old one still on the shelf. Every 6 weeks will be a new and exicting time with newly painted and expanding armies being sent to war. Hoan your skills, clean your weapons because the Front Line awaits! During the course of the league armies will be built and painted scoring points for
generalship and painting, all cilmaxing in a tournament for your Newly created army!

Pentacad Once a planet close to the Cadian Gate, with bountiful resources, this once imperial hive world slipped into the warp 5000 of year ago. With its sudden re emergence back into real space, the world is ripe for the taking... Will the imperial cleanse the world and take back what was once theirs. Will Hordes of orks
descend upon this mineral rich plant....? Or will we find this world overrun with Chaos....

Each round will be 6 weeks long and you will be required to play 1 pre assigned game by at least week 5 or have it arranged to play in week 6.

Armies will be built in increments of 250 points per 6 weeks.
Starting Roster 500 pts starts Febuary 4
First Increment 750 pts starts March 11
Second increment 1000 pts starts 22 April
Third Increment 1250 pts starts 3 June
Fourth Increment 1500 pts 15 July
Final Increment 1750 pts starts 14 August
Tournament for 1750 on. TBA

New players may join at end point (note that your first point scoring game will be in the "next" increment and you will be required to have the correct size force for that stage. Games will be allocated on the 6th week of each round.
All models must be painted in at least three colours on the model. No bare metal, no bare plastic, no basecoat-only models to obtain you’re Painting points for the stage. You will either need to bring your painted list or post pictures of it by the first week of each stage for validation.

You are encouraged to play as many games as you can during the month, though only the official game will count for points.
All Rosters must be in for the next stage by the 6th week of each Increment. Rosters may change between Increments. For example the units from the 500-point list do not have to be used in 750-point list. ( Note you will still be required to have painted model for any changes you make so big changes will require a big painting effort!.)

You will need to make yourself available to play at least once every 6 weeks at KRAGS.If you can’t you may arrange to play outside the club, however if an arrangement cant be made by the 5th week you will either need to attend on the 6th week to play or forfeit this increments game. (This will count a win for your opponent)

We encourage you to post battle reports in the KRAGS forums of Westgamer.com

Bfi Sunday photos

BFI Sunday the results

Well guys its all over and I have to thank you all for a truly monumental day. 14 people turned out for 4 rounds of fast and furious BFG action.

On the whole I think the day went well, there are of course things as the organiser that I'd do differently next time (and there will be a next time - it was just too much fun), but I got round to seeing most of you play on the day, and all of you seemed to be having fun.

Stand out moments for me included:

- Watching an Admirals flagship fail a critical brace roll, from a long range torpedo salvo, that was the only thing that stopped Richard from getting his admiral off the board in the blockade run mission.
- Joel's Chaos fleet bearing down on blackstone 6, making their boarding role and then launching a nasty volley just as JD's Imperials came into range of the station. Chaos hulked the station but it could have been so much more deadly if the blackstone had suffered a plasma overload.
- Gary's Orks going up against Rob's chaos in the heart of the Bellos star, that one looked like a blood bath!
- Richard picket line disintegrating whilst desperately trying to stop a chaos fleet from launching an exterminatus on his home planet
- And of course Justins chorus of 'Who let the squigs out' in round 4 and the Orky 'Hold on Ladz' everytime his ships took a pummeling (fairly regular)
- By far the hardest though was judging the painting competition. There were three standout fleets and I eventually had to involve Justin and Sue (Da Misses) to help me make the final decision.

The finals scores are as follows:

Congratulations to
Richard Henderson (Best Painted)
Justin Blankley (Best Sportsman)
Travis Kirke (Best Captain)
Tom White (Legendary Admiral & the Arnie Award)
Black Squadron for team score

The numbers above the column headings indicate the maximum score in each of the categories. Note that Best Captain and Legendary Admiral were the two categories that could not be won by the same person, so although Tom scored highest in Best Captain, the honour went to the second highest score because he'd already won the Legendary Admiral award.

Call for extraordinary meeting

Hi Guys,

Please note that at the next meeting, due on the 26th November, we will need 10-15 minutes of your time to hold an general meeting. This will be scheduled to occur at 7:30pm and we encourage you all to attend.

It is with regret that was must announce that Joel Marks has stood down with immediate effect as Chairman of the KRAGS Operating Committee. Joel was instrumental in the creation of KRAGS and the remaining members of the committee would like to thank him for his contribution.

Moving forward, we need to ratify that the current membership are happy for Justin Blankley to assume the position of Chairman. Justin will say a few words and then the matter will be put to a majority vote.

We would also like to invite members to volunteer for other committee positions at this time. Serving on the committee gives people the opportunity to help shape the club. The committee is responsible for the direction of the club and its wellbeing, the creation and execution of events and the oversight of club finances. The committee meets once every six weeks to discuss these matters. Committee meetings are the sole compulsory element to being a committee member, however many of us dedicate our time in a diversity of ways to furthering the club and we encourage anyone who would like to help, to volunteer to serve on the committee. Your contribution is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Finally the AGM will close by reflecting on the next steps. We invite everyone at this point to contribute with feedback on what we can do to improve the club experience, what events people would like to see run in 2011 and how we can further build on the KRAGS name. We would in particular like to hear suggestions for a event over the XMAS period, given that KRAGS will be closed on the 24th and 31st December.
If you are unable to attend the meeting on the 26th you can lodge your opinions and suggestions, as well as volunteer your services for a committee position through either Justin (Magic_Number) or Paul (BrotherPaulos) via PM on Westgamer.
